Description
Melanotan II (MT-2) is a cyclic synthetic analogue of α-MSH with an Ac-[Nle4, Asp5, D-Phe7, Lys10]-α-MSH(4-10)-NH2 structure. The cyclic backbone improves stability relative to linear analogues. It is studied for MC1R/MC4R agonism, melanogenesis, and as a pharmacological tool for dissecting melanocortin receptor subtype contributions to pigmentation, reward signalling, and energy balance in preclinical models.
