Description
Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the ACTH(4-7) sequence with a Pro-Gly-Pro C-terminal extension. Research models use Semax to examine BDNF upregulation, dopaminergic pathway modulation, and serotonin turnover in the context of cognitive function and neuroprotection. It is of particular interest in preclinical stroke and ischaemia models for studying neuroprotective signalling cascades.
