Description
VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) is a 28-amino acid neuropeptide of the glucagon/secretin superfamily that activates VPAC1 and VPAC2 G-protein-coupled receptors. It is studied for its roles in bronchodilation, intestinal motility, immunomodulation (anti-inflammatory T-cell regulation), and circadian clock (SCN) function. VIP is a key tool compound in both immunology and neuroscience research programmes.
